Document scanners of today sure have changed from those of the past. We are entering a 007 Bond like era where normal consumers have the capability to send and receive an array of data anywhere and at anytime. Of course the price you have to pay for this convenience is somewhat high but is slowly falling as more and more competitors enter the document scanner market.
Document scanners now are available in all different kinds of sizes and options. Of course they are still available as the big machines we would normally recognize them as in the office, but they are increasingly becoming more available in compact sizes for household and consumer use. The latest scanners to hit the market are handheld document scanners in the shape of pens and can be used to upload and send data from your cell phone, lap top or computer.
Document scanner options:
-Flatbed Scanners
The flatbed scanner is very similar to a copier where the document is placed on a glass plate and the optical sensor scans it from underneath to read the document. The data it receives is them transferred onto the computer it would be attached to. From there you can either open the document or print it as a normal Word document, JPEG or PDF file, or you can save it and send it wherever you please using an internet connection.
Flatbed scanners are better used for copying and sending larger format documents that would be more difficult to copy using a handheld document scanner. This would be ideal for copying a large page, pictures, or multiple pages or pictures.
-Handheld Document Scanners
A handheld document scanner is designed for users to copy documents on the go. No matter where you are, you could copy and send data by simply running the scanner over the document. You would not have to be wherever your copier/scanner is, in order to copy and send your documents.
This works great for business men and women on the go, students, and anyone else needing to send documents quickly. You could use it to copy and submit applications all over the country rather than having to use a computer program. You could use a handheld document scanner to copy data from the library so you don’t have to check out the entire book just for a small snippet of information. Or you can use them when you are away from the office and need to submit documents without having to be there or around a fax machine.
There really are a lot of different document scanner options and uses these days. As our technological capabilities increase, so will the ease of doing business. The flatbed scanner and handheld document scanner are just two examples of this new and exciting technology to recently hit the market.
